A Worcester robber was sentenced to a total of four years and eight months in prison when he appeared before court on Thursday (2 July). Ben Parkinson, 37, of Swallowfields, Worcester, was convicted of two counts of robbery at Worcester Crown Court and one count of theft from shop.

Parkinson was sentenced to three years and four months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228 for a robbery at Morrisons Daily in Ankerage Green, Worcester on 13 November 2025 where he filled a large bag with goods from the store and left without making payment. When a member of staff followed him and requested the goods be returned Parkinson punched them and ran off.

He was also convicted of theft from shop for this incident for which he was sentenced to six months in prison concurrently. Parkinson (pictured) was further sentenced to 16 months consecutively for a robbery at the Co-op store in Ambleside Drive, Worcester on 27 April 2026 when he made threats that he was an ‘armed robber’ and he was going to ‘stab’ staff.

He repeatedly pushed a member of staff to the chest, pushing them to the back of the store, before stealing alcohol and demanding tobacco before leaving. Detective Constable Peter Ryland, from the Integrated Offender Management (IOM) team, said: “We hope this sentence for Parkinson show that when a managed individual re-offends they are dealt with robustly and justice is swiftly sought.

“West Mercia Police take offences against retail staff very seriously and the serious nature of his offences was reflected in sentencing. “We would like to recognise the staff for their bravery and resilience during what was a traumatic experience for them and hope this result will help them to move on from these incidents.” Share
