Police Seek Witnesses After Fatal A19 Crash Near Thirsk

We are appealing for information after a fatal collision on the A19 near Great Thirkleby, close to Thirsk. The collision involved a grey BMW travelling north and a Skoda Fabia travelling south, at about 2.20pm on Wednesday 1 July 2026.

Sadly, the female driver of the Skoda was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her family are being supported by specially-trained officers.

The female driver of the BMW was taken to hospital for treatment. We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen either vehicle before the collision, or the collision itself, to get in touch – or anyone with dashcam footage that could assist our investigation.
