Man Charged with Knife Offences Following Reading Assault

Thames Valley Police officers investigating an assault with injury in Reading have made a charge. Ben Stevens, aged 29, of Caversham Road Reading, was charged last night (2/7) with two counts of Section 18 grievous bodily harm/wounding with intent and one count of possession of a knife in a public place.

The charges relate to an assault with injury in Castle Street following reports of a fight at around 10.48pm on Tuesday (30/6). Two men were injured in the assault with non-life-threatening injuries and one of the men has been discharged from hospital.

Stevens has been remanded to appear at Reading Magistrates' Court today (2/7). Notes to editor: A 55-year-old man, from Reading, has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm/wounding with intent.

He remains in custody, at this time. The 52-year-old man, from Reading, who was arrested on Wednesday (1/7) has been released on police bail.
