Motorists have been warned about the dangers of poor parking preventing fire engines from being able to attend life-threatening emergencies. Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service issued a warning following recent incidents in Luton.

Station Commander, Rob Davis said: "While recent incidents have not been serious, another occasion that may not be the case and it could mean the difference between life and death." "Whilst our fire engines are getting more compact, our plea is to not park inconsiderately as it not only causes unnecessary obstructions and frustrations to other motorists, but it can also make it difficult for all emergency services to access certain areas when responding to 999 calls." In Luton the following roads have been identified as those that emergency services often struggle to get to an incident: Copenhagen Close, Marsh Farm.

Selbourne road, Luton Connaught Road, Luton Chatsworth Road, Luton Milton Road, Luton Talbot Road, Luton Ridgeway Road, Luton Reginald Street, Luton Frederick Street, Luton Highbury Road, Luton Third Avenue, Luton Fourth Avenue, Luton Hazelbury Crescent, Luton The recent incidents have seen fire engines struggle to pass through streets where vehicles have been parked down both sides of a narrow street or on double yellow lines.
