A man has been jailed after he launched a violent attack on a man and a woman on Boxing Day last year. Somtochukwu Igboayaka, 23, was at a friend’s Cambridge home when he became angry about some missing cannabis.
Believing the female victim to have stolen it, Igboayaka punched her multiple times in the face and tried to shove her head down the toilet, before grabbing a knife from the kitchen and trying to stab her. The victim received multiple wounds to her hands where she tried to defend herself.
A man who was also at the property tried to stop the attack, but Igboayaka threatened him with the knife, and then hit him over the head with a glass vodka bottle. Both victims attended hospital where they were treated for their injuries following the attack.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday (24 June), Igboayaka, of Stanmore Road, Duckett’s Green, London, was jailed for two years and nine months after admitting wounding without intent, and possession of cannabis. DC Matthew Grace, who investigated, said: “This was a vicious and senseless attack and Igboayaka is clearly a very dangerous individual.
The level of violence was extreme, and this is a prime example of the violence and devastation that drugs can have on our society so I am pleased he’s now behind bars for his crimes.” Share
