A drug dealer has been handed a 12 and half year sentence for dangerous driving and supplying cocaine, ecstasy, LSD and cannabis after fleeing police and hiding in a loft with a rucksack full of drugs. Jay Dean Matthews, 29, from Stockton, fled the scene of a collision on 21st August 2024 after he had initially made off from police following an attempted stop.
The damaged black BMW x3 was later found outside of an address where officers found Matthews hiding in the loft with a backpack containing cocaine, MDMA, LDS and cannabis. Investigations into the drugs and forensic examination of the messages on his mobile phone confirmed that he was involved in the wholesale supply of cannabis and cocaine.
Sergeant Chapman from the Prisoner Handling Team said: “The investigative team did a fantastic job of collating evidence to ensure Matthews’ conviction and substantial sentence. “He was supplying large amounts of drugs in the area, causing misery to those who dealers prey on.
Taking another dealer from our streets should strengthen our fight against drugs and the violent crime and antisocial behaviour that comes with drug dealing and drugs activity.” Share
