Police are trying to trace this man following the theft of an electric bike in Edwalton. A suspicious incident was initially reported of a man riding one bike while holding another one.

The individual in question duly lost his balance and fell off the e-bike he was riding in Wellin Lane, Edwalton. Believing something suspicious was going on, a member of the public approached the man and took the second e-bike off him.

Following that confrontation, the bike rider left the scene – around 10.20am on Thursday (2 July) – while the member of the public called the police. The e-bike was duly handed over to officers, who then received a separate report later that day of an e-bike being stolen from a garage at an Edwalton property.

Police have since confirmed that the e-bike seized was the one taken during the burglary and it has now been returned to its rightful owner. An investigation is now ongoing to track down the person responsible for the break-in, with officers now able to release this image of someone they'd like to speak to as part of their inquiries.

PCSO Jodie Turner, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "I'd firstly like to praise the actions of the member of the public who seized this e-bike after suspecting it could've been stolen. "On that note, I'd like to request the assistance of the public once again, by asking anyone who recognises the man in this picture to please contact us.

"We’d also ask that the individual in question does the right thing, if they see this appeal, and makes himself known to us, so that we can ask him a few questions." The police can be contacted directly by calling 101, quoting incident 234 of 2 July 2026, while information can alternatively be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Share
